Maria Jimenez

Maria Jimenez is a member of the 2nd Project ALFA cohort and is currently a distance education graduate student at The University of Alabama’s School of Library and Information Studies. Her passion and interest in universal access issues stems from her experience living in East LA and then on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Maria worked closely with Hispanic and Native populations and witnessed first-hand how the lack of access to relevant and crucial information can cripple a community for generations.

Maria currently lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband and 1-year-old son. Once finished with her degree at The University of Alabama, she plans to pursue her passion for access issues in Native communities.
