Kym Reinstadler

Kym Reinstadler is an Accessible Libraries For All Fellow at Wayne State University. She currently lives in her hometown of Midland, Michigan. She earned her undergraduate degree in journalism at Michigan State University. She had a long and happy career as a newspaper reporter, covering the sports, courts, and education beats. Changes in information and communication fields left her eager to extend her writing career in new ways.

Spending time in recent years with her aging parents opened her eyes to communication barriers people face as they experience changes in seeing, hearing, mobility, and cognition. Kym hopes a Master of Library and Information Science degree will be a springboard to helping people with mild to severe impairments access information and communicate more fully.

Kym works as the lead writer for School Communicators Network, an online magazine for superintendents, principals, and school public relations professionals.

She has three adult children: Whitney, Justin and Sierra. Grandchildren Gabriel and Mia say, "Me, too." In addition to reading and writing, Kym’s passions are hiking, biking, boating, and the Detroit Tigers.
